Islamic Spain Comes to DC, October 10
For those in the US capitol area, Wednesday October 10 starting 8:30 in the evening (meaning food is OK for the umma-fied), the restaurant Busboys and Poets at 2021 14th Street, is doing a film screening of CITIES OF LIGHT: THE RISE AND FALL OF ISLAMIC SPAIN. The producer Alexander Kronemer will be there. (UPDATE/CORRECTION: One can NOT tell by his very non-Muslim name how much time, effort, and money the Islamic community regularly spends on telling its own story as it appears he is indeed Muslim unlike my previous assumption (thanks, commenter Ahem); apologies to Mr Kronemer and the umma for my undue, though normally well-justified, cynicism in this area.*) Below the break is more detail.
WHEN: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 10TH 8:30PM-10:30PM
WHERE: Busboys and Poets @ 14th and V -
2021 14th Street NW - Washington DC

*Was all prepared to sneer at another non-Muslim telling Islamic history while Muslims sit mostly idly by. All of a sudden Ahem points out correctly I didn't do my homework; much thanks to him or her for doing so. Mr. Kronemer has a site here and is quite interesting.

* Sarcasm noted.
According to this 2004 article:
http://www.beliefnet.com/story/141/story_14166_1.html
in a review of Gibson’s “The Passion”, Kronemer claims to be a Muslim. See page 2.
That takes care of time and effort.
As to funding, it’s not possible to identify the donors to Kronemer’s non profit Unity Productions Foundation, so maybe you won a trifecta.*
*Causticism.

Just wondering. I do not know nothing about the film you are talking about but I have some problem i understanding your statement.
I am not muslim but live in a place where the culture where always very mixed up as well as our ancestor.
It could be Sicily instead of Spain or any place next to the sea in Italy.
I would be quite amused at seeing someone who want to be considered the sole owner of the right to talk about the history of a certain place.
If I look at Palermo, an example that spring to my mind, Cuba was built by a norman king but the influences are arabic. Same for the Cappella Palatina: norman and arabic architecture, byzantine influenced mosaics.
As far as I am concerned those things belongs to my culture too and I do not understand your statement, surely my fault as I am quite a new reader.
Could you please explain ?
